In light of my first official blog entitled “This guy walks into a bar…” I have decided my first attempt at an introduction was a little weak, very weak actually. I gave you a general view of what my future topics could be. However, I alluded to nothing on myself or what you could expect from my writing style.
I consider myself to be creative and artistic. I think in the work environment it’s easier to be creative working with a team and knowing you’re striving for the good of the company and the client. Personally, I am very critical of my work and in the end I stop myself from finishing or in some cases even starting a project. The result being that I have grandiose ideas but hardly any finished product to back it up. I’m talking about polished portfolio work, here.
Writing, for me, has been no different. I have a stack of story ideas, but nothing fleshed out. Still, where some kids dreamed of being football or basketball stars, I dreamed of being an artist, a writer, a musician. At just under forty years old, I am still working on accomplishing those dreams. “Be committed to your goal” (Hey, I’ll keep that in mind for a future blog topic.) Everyday, I think I’m not trying hard enough to accomplish my goals. I always feel I can do better.
When the proposition of writing a blog was given to me, I was not receptive to say the least. Writing a blog is a big commitment and I was and still am a little frightened of making my deadlines. More than that, I finally had to deliver on my ideas. I had to produce something.
I hope to give you a good dose of my personal side in all of my blogs. In fact, that will be mostly what you get as I ramble on about this and that, striking off on huge story arcs that may or may not lead you back to any kind of cohesive point. (Just kidding, I hope that doesn’t happen) In all of this I hope to tie in some life experiences to work experiences and vice versa.
